A TEENAGE darts enthusiast stepped up to the oche for a marathon 12 hours in aid of charity – and still had the energy to defeat one of the game’s elite.
Connor Levett, 13, of Irene Avenue, Lancing, took part in the marathon alongside former Aston Villa footballer, Andy Caspali. It was held at the TMG Social Club on Sompting Road, Worthing, at the end of last month, in aid of disabled East Preston youngster Iona-May Thorne.

Global Darts - UK Open Qualifier 7, Birmingham - by Charis

The UK Open Qualifer weekend at the beginning of May in Birmingham was the last chance fort he PDPA players to qualify for the tournament in June in Bolton. So I had decided to travel there and not to miss the opportunity. I had hoped a little bit for some nice spring days in England - well, it was of course spring and most of the time bright sun shine but it was rather cold most of the time. And it was quite cold in the venue too. One didn't notice at the beginning when the hall was full but the more players left the cooler it got and around board 16 there was a distinct draught. I had enough warm cloth with me but it can't have been agreeable for all the players playing in short sleeves.

 UK Open Qualifier 8, Birmingham
On Sunday morning after a full English breakfast I decided to explore the canals further and walked along them to the Jewellery Quarter where you can find one jeweller beside the other. There were not many people around on Sunday morning but it was quite interesting to see some nice old houses there. I walked back through the city centre where then all the shops had opened.

#Darts are my passion - Siphamandla - The Swazi Observer

He is confident that he will go a long way as a darts player.
He explains that one of the reasons he chose the sport is because it is relaxed and also good for the brain.
“Unlike other sports, darts is played in a relaxed environment and one does not have to sweat it out. It’s a sport that requires thinking and helps stimulates the brain,” he explains.

Although he adores the sport, the aspiring High Court judge mentions that the standard of darts in the country is very poor hence there is a lot to be done to improve it.

#darts Southern Ontario Cricket Shootout - Match Report

Well, with only 16 players attending (20 paid), the day went off without a hitch.
Two sections of 8 were set up, top 4 from each section moving on to the knockout rounds. Section “A” seen the likes of Steven Wilcox, Steve Warnock and Judy Smith and Ian Fogarty amoungst others. Battles were close, Steve Warnock dominated the A side fairly easily, but with Ian givinghim the hardest push, and Steven forcing a third game. High pointing games were the specialty of the day, seing many games going over the 500 point mark. Steven Wilcox Derek and Gord all played great, and ended the RR with a tie for the final spot to knockout rounds, forcing a 701 playoff... With all players shooting for that spot, the nerves started, and with each player on a finish , it was anyones game. With each having a shot but missing thier first chance at a double, Gord eventually took X9 to advance, sending Steven and Derek tot he consolation rounds.

Guinness World Record #darts event this weekend

In January last year a team of eight darts players from the Reading and Wokingham area set a new official Guinness World Record by hitting 1,505 bullseyes in 10 hours.

This weekend a group of players in Texas will attempt to beat the record.

To give our American cousins a bit of friendly competition, the original and current world record holders will be staging their own, unofficial world record event. Both events will start and finish at the same time and abide by the exact same rules.

We had hoped to set up a skype video link between the two events so each could see how their 'opposition' were getting on. Unfortunately though the team in America has not been able to set up the technology on their end. However, I will be posting regular updates on progress to The Dartboard.co.uk for anyone interested.

Our event will raise money for The Royal British Legion. If you live in the area, please come along and lend us your support. The venue is the Royal British Legion Club, Woodlward Close, Winnersh, Reading. Alternatively you can make a donation securely online at: http://www.justgiving.com/bullseyechallenge

Rileys #Darts Get Hot Hot Hot This Summer!

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that things are heating up this summer at Rileys Darts Zones across the country with a host of darts events to get you hot under the collar!

Kicking off this month, Rileys Sports Bar is bringing darts to the people in style, with the help of some of the finest legends in darts.

Committed to propelling darts to new heights in the UK, big names such as Paul Nicholson, Mark Webster, Tony O’Shea, Robert Thornton and John Henderson will make up a list of not-to-be-missed events throughout the Summer, where lucky competition winners will get the opportunity to go up against these legends. They will also take the time to answer questions from the crowd, as well as signing autographs.

Maurice Kelly, Chief Executive of Rileys Sports Bars, said: “We are delighted to have so many big names visit our clubs this summer, proving that we have always been serious about our darts. Darts is a great social sport that gets everyone involved but it has been difficult for people to find high quality facilities to play, as pubs across the country are closing daily.”

Rileys will also be hosting Phil Taylor as the Rileys UK Roadshow hits the Darts Zones this month. The Roadshow will be touching down at Darts Zones in Wolverhampton, Solihull, Burton and to launch the new Darts Zone in Nottingham.

#darts Are your ADO links working?

On checking some links for ADO affiliated dart leagues I found that there were some links to league website that were not working. There seems to be some errors on the page that can be easily corrected, so I would suggest visiting the http://www.adodarts.com/current-affiliations/  page and checking to see if the link to your leagues website is working properly. If you find your leagues link does not work you can contact the ADO webmaster at: webmaster@adodarts.com
