But the darts fanatic was forced to suffer to get hold of a golden ticket – by shivering for 15 hours outside the Winter Gardens.

But at 6.30pm on Tuesday Mark was settling down for the night wrapped in a swathe of duvets and sleeping bags for his marathon vigil – in plunging October temperatures.

o And it was 12-year-old Jack Lucas who stole the show.
The youngster won the man-of-the-match award for the Oxon under 18 side after finishing with a 19.82 average.

Some things make no sense. Take the price of gasoline in America.
Over the past year the price of a gallon of gasoline has spiked nearly a dollar to over three dollars a gallon. The reasons given: Chinese demand, Hurricane Katrina, the war in Iraq, the prospect of another war in Iran, some problem with a leaky pipeline in Alaska and because George Bush is a monkey butt. A month ago it cost me roughly the same amount to fill up the tank of my lawnmower as it did to fill up my car in high school.
Then suddenly, despite that fact that all of these so-called reasons for the increase still exist and some have worsened, the price of gasoline gradually dropped thirty percent to about two dollars a gallon. It’s a mystery I tell you.

'The Power' secured a hard-fought 7-4 victory over Terry Jenkins in the final of the Skybet-sponsored event - but he is already turning his attention to the Ladbrokes.com World Championship, which starts in December.
Taylor, who will be hoping to win his 14th world title at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, revealed: 'I'm going to practice a little bit different this time.

DENNIS PRIESTLEY reached a second successive SkyBet World Grand Prix semi-final with a gritty 4-2 win over James Wade.
Priestley allowed a 3-1 lead to slip against Colin Lloyd in last year's semis, but will get the chance to avenge that on Saturday when he meets either Phil Taylor or Roland Scholten.
A sluggish start saw Priestley lose the opening set 3-1, with Wade beginning brightly with legs of 13, 14 and 15 darts.
The Yorkshireman battled through to take the second in a deciding leg, and then he stepped up a gear to race through the third 3-1 and move ahead.

I would like to thank Bob Jones for this write up of the All State Open. Please read and enjoy.....
The AllState Open was heralded by everyone I spoke with in Grand Rapids, MI, as "one of the most fun tournaments of the year!"...and after attending my first one last weekend, I would have to agree!
The venue is well lit, the boards were great, and the tournament was run very efficiently, although I did get involved in a slight "miscue" that proved interesting. Friday night went off without a hitch, as I got recycled in the mixed triples event and ended up finishing top 8 with Tina and Pam (Pam's first ever tournament - great job, and thanks for holding me up, Tina!
) The Weakest Link event was unique in that only 10 people shot in it at a time, and they ran a bunch of them, so you could really have a shot at winning that 50 bucks! I ended up after a bit of controversy shooting with Jamie Mawson in the blind draw, though we got knocked out in the first round - I had fun shooting with Jamie, thanks!
Saturday's Men's Doubles Cricket started off rough as we ran into Greg Hall and Brian who played well and knocked us out first round. Next event is Men's Singles 501, and I drew Darin Young first round. I suppose the next time I'll have a better chance of throwing halfway decently, as I experienced a bit of "shooting against the big boys" nerves...that was my first ever singles match against a top-ranked shooter. Darin was gracious as always, and I look forward to shooting against him in the future.
Next event for me was Men's Doubles 501, and my doubles partner Monty Jones and I finally put a few games together and ended up finishing Top 8 - I was extremely pleased! Good shooting, Monty! Singles cricket was interesting as I started out shooting the best game of my life, only to get waxed on the 15's and subsequently losing the next game to Shaun - that kid played great!
Mixed doubles produced my first ever ADO 180 shot, which eased the pain of getting knocked out in the first round. Jenny, my wife and mixed doubles partner, gave it a great shot and we had fun losing to Rob Wade and Heather - they were great sports!
All in all it was a great tournament and I hope to be able to attend next year's event!

World champion Phil Taylor beat Raymond van Barneveld 3-1 in a high quality second-round match at the SkyBet Grand Prix in Dublin.
Taylor produced some scintillating play to take the opening two sets before quelling van Barneveld's comeback in the fourth set.
The opening set was a hard-fought affair with both men winning against the darts before Taylor took out the deciding leg with double four.

BOB ANDERSON insists he has nothing to fear as he prepares for Friday's quarter-final with Terry Jenkins at the SkyBet World Grand Prix.
Anderson has overcome Colin Lloyd and Irish qualifier Anto McCracken to reach the last eight of the double-start tournament for the first time.
He will meet Jenkins in Friday's quarter-finals, and is targeting a first appearance in a PDC major final.
