THE latest four qualifiers for the finals of the Clifton Hotel Darts Open are Jason Fletcher, Chris Thompson, Johnny O’Mara and Barry Noble.
The quartet emerged from a 20-strong field at the latest qualifying round to book their places in the finale on Friday, December 19.
Fletcher beat Jo Hodges 3-1 to top group one, despite Hodges hitting a maximum 180.
Hodges (3 x 100, 2 x 121, 2 x 140) had earlier beaten Lee Mason 3-2, while Fletcher ousted Sarah Nicklin (4 x 100, 125, 160) 3-2.
In group two, Thompson was a 3-1 winner over Neil Hart after seeing off Shane Hurst 3-0 in the last four. Hart had beaten Iain Smith 3-0.
O’Mara qualified courtesy of a 3-0 win over Daz Uttley in group three. O’Mara also beat Lawrie Morgan 3-2 and Uttley beat Simon Yorke 3-1.
In group four, Noble was a 3-1 winner over Dave Kerr. Noble had earlier edged out Pip Hair 3-2, while Kerr whitewashed Dale Speck 3-0.
The night’s action included a total of 98 tons, 36 ton-plus scores and three 180s.
Meanwhile, the Clifton Hotel were 6-2 winners over the Golden Lion in the Yorkshire Super League.
Stu Limbert was beaten 3-1 by Jeff Boyes in the first game, but Martyn Turner got Clifton back on track with a 3-1 win over Mick Morris, thanks to a three-dart average of 83.49.
John Quantock edged the York side ahead with a 3-0 win over Alan Belline, Mark Fratson followed that with a 3-1 win over Alan Major and Thompson averaged 93.93 in his 3-0 win over Paul Toomlin.
Hart was a 3-0 winner over Lee Davies, while Tony Cooper edged a 3-2 verdict against Charlie Heddigan before Keith Turner lost 3-1 to Patrick Scott. (story source...)
