Bridgwater men's darts round-up - Tuesday 21st April 2009

THERE was a major shock in last week’s Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League Age Group Singles first rounds as the Blake Riversiders’ Tom Gill came through on a board in the 55 and over category, with several more fancied players on.

Gill’s board included three players that had previously won league singles competitions.

Elsewhere in the 55 and over competition, Brian Bacon of the Prince of Wales won on the Hope Inn board and Flag’s Dave Taylor took the Crown board despite Withy Lions’ Paul Lynch and Railway’s Alan Western both scoring 180s. (full article...)

Buccaneers darts team complete 100% season

IT was the final week of Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League matches and there were still a few issues left to be resolved, such as who would be Division One runners-up, who would join Malt Shovel in Division Two and could the Buccaneers complete the perfect ‘22 and 0’ season?

Bridgwater men's darts round-up - 9th March 2009

THERE was no real change in the Division One title race in the Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League after last week’s games, with the top two both winning.

The Prince of Wales beat The Three Lions 5-4 with the aid of a Brian Bacon 180 and The Squib were 6-3 winners over Crown Inn, Matt Prosser hitting a 180 and Mark Prosser a 160 away. (full article...)

Bridgwater men's darts round-up - 23rd February 2009

THE Squib had a very good week in the Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League at the expense of the unfortunate Prince of Wales.

Last Tuesday The Squib beat the Prince 6-3 in the league with the aid of a Matt Prosser 152 away and scores of 160 away and 180 by Shaun Elsley.

It moved them level on points with the Prince at the top of Division One. (full article...)

Prince power on at darts summit

THE Prince of Wales are two points clear at the top of Division One in the Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League after they beat Crown Inn 5-4, despite an Andy Balsom 152 away shot.

Hope Inn moved into second spot with a 7-2 defeat of British Flag, which included a Jason Blackmore 160 away.

Prince rule top division in men's darts league

PRINCE of Wales are top of the Bridgwater & District Men’s Darts League first division after a second 7-2 win.

They beat The Jokers with the aid of two Dave Baker 180s, while Matt Patrick had with one for Jokers.

Crown Inn are second, heaving beaten Blake Riversiders 5-4, Martyn Loaring hitting a 180. They are followed by British Flag despite their 5-4 defeat by OVH Wanderers.

Champions Spuds-R-Us have withdrawn from the league after their 7-2 defeat by Squib, because they were struggling to raise enough players. That result is void, as is week one’s defeat by The Three Lions.

Paddy Vearncombe hit a new highest out, 167, for The Three Lions in a 5-4 win over the Hope for whom Jason Blackmore threw a 16-dart leg. In the other top-division match, Railway Club A’s Bob Wilson hit a 180 as they beat Malt Shovel 6-3.

Buccaneers and the Railway Club B remain joint top of Division Two after both won 8-1 for a second week. Railway beat No Hopers with the aid of an Alex Bird maximum. White Hart B are third, followed by Sportsman, who beat Withy Lions 5-4, despite Ricky Williams Jnr hitting a brilliant 158 out-shot, and White Hart A.

On Wednesday night, only one of the three seven-a-side preliminary matches was played after both The Spectres and the New Foresters were unable to field teams. First-division The Jokers beat second-division Railway B 4-3m with the winners’ Adam Ward hitting a 180 in a 14-dart leg.
