Annual memorial #darts tournament coming up at the Comox Legion

As the 2011/12 Darts season comes to a close, once again the Comox Legion holds its Memorial Darts Tournament on Saturday, April 21.This will be the 6th year of the annual event, formerly known as the Verge Head Memorial Breakfast Shoot at CFB Comox.
This event arose after the CFB event was cancelled. Rod Verchere introduced the tournament to the Comox Legion after a good friend and member of the Branch, Alec Parkinson, passed away in 2006. Alec enjoyed his darts.
Since then, members who had been involved in the sport have been added, they are: Gerry Lalonde, Norma Lapointe, Charlie Fullerton, Doug Ruffell, Carl Charko and Bruce Tiffin. Gerry and Norma passed on prior to Alec.
The Tournament is open to teams of 4, they can be all male/female or coed. Entry fee is $40.00 per team.
At present interest has been shown by locals as well as teams from north and south of the Comox Valley. Event limited to 22 teams. Pre-registration preferred by Friday, April 20.

Open mixed doubles #darts tourney on sunday

With the Darts Season up and running, the Comox Legion is holding an Open Mixed Doubles, round robin format tournament on Sunday October 24th.

Comox Legion Branch 160 (1825 Comox Ave.) holds its 4th Annual Memorial Darts Tournament on Sunday, April 19. The event is open to teams of four: male/female or coed. Entry fee is $40 per team; total payout. Check-in 9:30 a.m., toe line 10 a.m. Lunches will be available.

Registration cut-off date is April 17. The event is limited to 22 teams. Sign-up at the Comox Legion or phone 250-339-2112.

The foggy mist didn’t dampen any feathers for the Comox Legion’s Blind Draw Doubles darts tournament on Nov. 16.

Organizers report 30 players participated in the event, all seemed in good spirits (“If you know what I mean,” an event spokesman quipped) during the preliminary rounds, and many a squeal of joy was heard when a game was won...

Next up is a “Turkey Shoot” on Saturday, Dec. 6. This also will be a blind draw format. Registration is 9 to 9:45 a.m. with toe line at 10:30 a.m. There will be men’s/ladies’ high score/high takeout with turkeys and hams.
