PAUL NICHOLSON is eagerly anticipating his clash with Gary Anderson on the opening night of the Blue Square UK Open.
Nicholson, a quarter-finalist in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Christmas, has drawn Scottish star Anderson in the plum tie of Thursday's play at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.
English-born Australian number one Nicholson made a big impression when he burst onto the televised scene last year at the Grand Slam of Darts - where he defeated Anderson 5-4 in the group stage.

Nicholson Retains Matchplay Title
PAUL NICHOLSON has retained his DPA Australian Matchplay title with a win over Steve Macarthur.
Nicholson was victorious at the Italo Club in Canberra with an 8-5 defeat of Macarthur in the final to win the Australian Matchplay for a second successive year. (full article...)

Nicholson Back In Form
PAUL NICHOLSON has claimed his first victory of 2009 on the DPA circuit with victory in the Punchbowl Ex-Services Club Open.
The 2008 Australian Grand Prix champion, fresh from his run to the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, defeated Brian Roach to claim victory in New South Wales.
Nicholson had defeated Oceanic Masters winner Russell Stewart 6-4 in the semis, having to come from 4-1 down against his fellow Alexandra Palace qualifier. (full article...)

Nicholson eyes Aussie attack
Australian duo looking to cause a few shocks at Alexandra Palace
A lot of players come on TV for the first time and don't settle but I felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the experience - I can't wait to get back up there.
Paul Nicholson will lead a double Australian assault on the World Championship desperate to get back into the spotlight, after his eventful Grand Slam debut last month.
Australia's top man Nicholson will play at Alexandra Palace along with veteran Russell Stewart, and both men fancy their chances of bagging a win in the tournament.

Gray to face little known Aussie
Adrian Gray has been paired with a little known Australian in Monday afternoon's draw for darts' premier event.
The St Leonards player will take on Paul Nicholson in round one of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship which will get under way on Friday December 19.
Gray is one of the 32 seeds for the competition to be staged at Alexandra Palace by virtue of sitting 27th on the Professional Darts Corporation order of merit. (full article...)
