ADO Region II-2, US Team Regional Playoffs

Hello everyone!
... This email from our ADO regional director.
Just wanted to forward on the results from this past weekend for our regional playoffs for the US Team. I would like to sincerely thank the GSDDA members and everything they are doing to support darts in Southern California. We had 11 men this time and 7 of them were from GSDDA! Thanks guys! GSDDA has truly become the backbone of support in this region and your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated!

As I said, we had 11 men compete on Saturday and it was a long day of darts. For those that do not know me well....I really dislike the concept of breaking up a large group into 2 or more groups. I really dislike the "luck of the draw"! I will give you a "for instance" on why I do not break things up into 2 or more groups to play. I recently went to Houston to compete in the National playoffs for the World Masters. There were 28 women and they broke us up into 4 groups of 7. So, I went and drew my card....and I will share with you just who all was in my group. Stacy Bromberg, Carolyn Mars, Brenda Roush, Linda Anglin, Pamela Patton and Cindy Gaskin. So my "luck of the draw" puts me in a group with 3 of the top 4 women players in this country....and Linda, Pamela and Cindy are nothing to sneeze at either! And this is exactly why I dislike the "luck of the draw".

So, out of 30 possible legs won, this is how the men's event ended:

John Kramer-(The Dart Shop)-26 legs won
Charles Bradish-(GSDDA)-18 legs won
Steve Lawson-(PDA)-17 legs won (tie-breaker win)
Doug McDonough-(GSDDA)-17 legs won
Marvin Wentz-(GSDDA)-16 legs won
Curtis Pierpont-(SCDA)-16 legs won
Mark Pundt-(GSDDA)-13 legs won
Dan Jager-(GSDDA)-13 legs won
Mark Veatch-(GSDDA)-10 legs won
JD Newman-(GSDDA)-10 legs won
Mick Farrell-(VCDA)-9 legs won

Our ladies event was held on Sunday. The results in a moment, but again a HUGE! thank you extended to the men from all of the ladies involved for letting the extra money collected forwarded on to the ladies event, so we are finally able to send one man and one lady to the national playoffs fully paid without having to have any fundraisers. Props to the men for helping out the ladies!

The results for the ladies were as follows:

Anne Kramer -(Triple Crown Productions)-11 legs won
Jennifer Polefko-(The Dart Shop)-6 legs won (tie-breaker win)
Deb Pundt-(GSDDA)-6 legs won
Christa DeBoer-(The Dart Shop)-4 legs won
Joyce Bleak-(PDA)-3 legs won

And extra thanks to Lori at the Dolphin Lounge for hosting both events and making us all feel welcome.

The winners of both events will now go on to compete in the national playoff in October in Austin for the US Team, which will be for the World Cup team that will compete in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009.

And now it is time for the cricket qualifiers to begin! Leagues and associations, please begin your qualifiers and lets see if we can get enough players qualified to be able to send 2 men and 2 ladies to Vegas to compete in the Cricket Nationals in January 2009!

Thanks again everyone for your support! Webmasters, please post on websites!

With regards,

Anne Kramer

Regional playoff-US Team!!! ADO Region II-2,

An email arrived today...

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay on this email, but I would like to announce that the next regional for the US Team will be held at the Dolphin Lounge in Anaheim.

The men will be on Saturday, July 26th with sign-ups starting at 11am and the regional starting promptly at 12 noon.

The women will be on Sunday, July 27th with sign-ups starting at 11am and the regional starting promptly at 12 noon. All paid ladies participants will receive one free drink courtesy of me to thank you for your support to ladies darts in Southern California. Without everyone's consistent participation, there would not be any ladies events!

I apologize for the 2 separate days, but the Dolphin Lounge does have soft-tip tournaments and leagues going on both of these days and I would like to split the days in order to ensure that the regional events do not get disrupted by any conflicting soft-tip events.

I have not heard from the other ADO leagues reps, however, I can tell you that we already have 2 men and 2 women qualified from the Orange County area, with one more qualifier to go that will take place at the Dolphin Lounge on July 19th. I will send an email out with the details for this soon and this will be open to any players in this region to qualify for the regional.

As an added note, I will also be selling raffle tickets for men and women separately. I will be at the Moonspinners Mixer shoot on Saturday to sell tickets and the drawings for both will take place then....probably right before they call the first singles matches of the day. If you cannot make it to the Moonspinner shoot and would still like a raffle ticket for the drawing, you have until Saturday 9am to contact me via email or phone to arrange for the purchase. So far, sadly we have no raffle tickets sold for the men...but props to the ladies because we have collected $80 so far and by drawing time, should have enough to draw for at least one complete paid entry into the regional. Thanks ladies for the awesome support of this idea! You are running strong with it and the results show!

Come on men....what are you waiting for??? The ladies are leaving you in the dust on this! For $10, you have a chance for an entry! Every $110 collected gets a drawing for a full paid entry into the regional. Our last raffle winners were Phil O'Neill from Santa Barbara, Deb Pundt from San Diego and Darla Glass-Hill received $70 toward her entry and played in her first regional ever. She's bought 4 more tickets for this one and is hooked!

Thanks everyone for your support and looking forward to seeing you this Saturday at the Moonspinner Mixer and at the regional events on July 26th and 27th!
