Kampala — MATHIAS 'Cobra' Okwir and Aojan Orisa gave Uganda a sensational doubles victory that thwarted a Kenyan sweep at the Uganda Darts Open in Jinja on Sunday.
The Police marksmen beat Gulu's James Lanek and Charles Okumu 4-2 in an all-Ugandan final.
But the real battle for the champions came in the semi-final where they prevailed over Kenya's David Warui and Evans Njuguna 3-0 in a closely contested tie.
The Ugandan top pair missed the chance of avenging the Kenyan feat in the singles event. It was an all-Kenyan final as Ibrahim Ambuta overcame Peter Wanjie 4-1. (full article...)

Jinja, not Gulu, to host Open
- The Uganda darts Open that was due in Gulu this month has been moved to Jinja. The Nile Breweries sponsored event due Nov. 23-24 will be held at Garden Pub, according to the local darts association secretary Jimmy Ross Oyamo. The change was on request of players from Kenya and Tanzania. (story source...)
