Conversation with Bill Davis

Charis writes (sewa-darts.com) "Should you like me sit here in the press tent of the PDC World Championship totally undreamt chances will disclose for you. You only have to snip your fingers and—there you are—the player you wish to see appears in front of you.

Well, it not really happens like this, snipping the fingers will not work you better ask Dave Allen and of course it might not work at all, not before a match and not after a match should the player not want to appear.

And of course do you intend a proper interview you should better be prepared for it. In this case that was more my problem, it was a rather spontaneous idea to try the finger snipping part and as I somehow had no idea the schedule had changed I didn’t have the time to prepare. That´s why I don´t dare to call it an interview, too many questions you all might be interested in will not be answered, I call it a conversation. (full interview...)

Scotty Burnett - Blog post

Thursday, October 22, 2008

Three weeks, three events. Wiped out! Goint to try to avoid that in the future if possible.

Started the trifecta with the Colorado open. Rob and I won the Cricket doubles beating Bill Davis and Donny Joe, and lost the 01 final to local boys Dan Moore and Ruben Blea. Continued my streak of finals in the doubles, followed by poor showing in the singles.

Next up was the San Francisco Open... (the rest at - http://www.scottyburnett.com/Blog.html)

SEWA-darts.com & Dartplayer.net - Professional Darters Of North America

Roger Carter writes "The discussion has been tossed around for years and it is time we finally initiated a plan to make North America one of the premier continents to play professional darts. No one else accept the players are going to take a chance and make it work.

I recommend that we pool together and start an organization that will help darts grow, put darts on television, and provide a measuring tool for players to become World champions.

We already have John Part, a two time world champion, Larry Butler, World Matchplay champion, Roger Carter, 4 time world championship participant, Johnny Kuczynski, 3 time world championship participant, Darin Young, Bill Davis, Scott Wollaston, and Ray Carver, world championship participants. Not to mention all the players that lay in waiting for something exciting to happen here in the U.S. as well as in Canada.

Philadelphia Inquirer - Double trouble: ESPN darts show falters; fans say it misses mark

Philadelphia Inquirer - Double trouble: ESPN darts show falters; fans say it misses mark: "Double trouble: ESPN darts show falters; fans say it misses mark
By Jeff McLane
Inquirer Staff Writer

To Bill Davis, it was like he never got a chance to pull his own darts.

To ESPN, the darts thrown were nowhere near the bull's-eye.

Just three episodes into the eight-episode arc of the World Series of Darts, ESPN pulled the rookie series from its key 7 p.m. Tuesday time slot last week.

For Davis, a world-class darts player featured in the first hourlong show, and for the growing fraternity of American darts players, the prime-time exposure was just the jolt the game needed.

But so-so ratings - a 0.4, which equates to 334,900 households - didn't justify having the World Series of Darts as a lead-in to the hugely popular World Series of Poker (a 1.0 rating), according to ESPN.

And now the WSOD finds itself without a permanent home while Davis and his brethren question ESPN's presentation of the game they love and cherish."
