At long last Wolfie masters the Winmau

MARTIN Adams dramatically ended his long wait for Winmau World Masters glory on Sunday morning (7 December).
The Market Deeping legend had never previously managed to capture the second biggest tournament in the British Darts Organisation calendar, but he put that right in fine style by seeing off Scott Waites 7-6 in a final thriller.

Adams pocketed a cool £25,000 for his troubles and also earned another £1,000 for producing the highest checkout of the televised stages with a 160.

He said: "I have been trying to win this tournament for close to 20 years and I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to have done it.

Former world champion Martin Adams edged out Scott Waites 7-6 to win the Winmau World Masters in Bridlington and a cheque for £25,000.

There was never more than a set between the players and it needed two extra legs in the final set to separate them, Cambridgeshire ace Adams hitting double 16 after mising three earlier throws at winning doubles.
