2010 #Darts Clan Challenge

This past weekend we held our Gold Coast Shootout III Dart Tournament, and one of our latest ideas, the Highland Games Darts Clan Challenge,  got a little press in the local newspaper.

This year the Ventura County Dart Association, which is presenting Gold Coast Shootout III in conjunction with the Highland Games, has added the Darts Clan Challenge. The 70 clans that have gathered for the games are invited to form three-person dart-throwing teams to earn awards and bragging rights.

Our tournament is part of the Seaside Highland Games http://www.seaside-games.com/ so the event is geared towards drawing non-dart players into the Dart Hall, helping them to understand more about the game of darts, and get them to compete.

Just a reminder for those that don't know, The Ventura County Dart Association is putting on Gold Coast Shoot Out II, $5,050 ADO sanctioned event, on Oct 10 - 11 2009. I know this conflicts with the Colorado shoot, but there was nothing that could be done. Anyone not going to Colorado, feel free to stop by and visit us at the Ventura County Fair grounds. Morgan Arena will be hopping with Sara Lisiecki’s All Breed Herding Dog demonstrations, BYDAND FOREVER the Gordon Highlanders recreators and the Haggis Toss Challenge Competition! The fine Highlander Warriors reenactors will perform adjacent to Center Stage and you will find fiddlers, harpists and all manner of music as you wander the grounds. Enjoy the new Darts Competition hosted by Bryan Gosser and the Ventura County Dart Association as they occupy Santa Cruz Hall

Well, it's that time of year again. The Seaside Highland Games is on for the weekend of October 11 and 12, and the Ventura County Dart Association will be giving away another iPod to a lucky shooter. As last year, the participants cannot be regular dart players, and must be adults (18 years and up) to participate. (See below for more information). The difference this year is that we will also be hosting a full dart tournament, with a prize fund of $5,000+.

Match Play starts at 10:45 am Saturday and Sunday. Events run until 6:00 pm. Registration for each event closes 20 min before event start time. This event is open to all dart players age 18 and over. Age verification will be strictly adhered to, and there will be 10 men’s and women’s events open to all.

The event fee schedule ranges from $15.00 - $35.00 per event, depending on event type. These fees are in addition to the gate fee and parking fee for the Seaside Highland Games. Interested participants may visit www.vcda.org for event flier and pre registration form.

In addition, for the non-dart players, there will be a chance to win an iPod! Each contestant will throw three darts at the board. The highest score at the end of the weekend will win the iPod! (This event also restricted to adults, 18 and over.)

The VCDA is dedicated to promoting the sport of darts throughout the county of Ventura and neighboring cities and counties of southern California. Conducting a dart tournament at the Seaside Highland games is one way of promoting dart activities, as well as introducing the sport to the general public.

Found this email posted below on a site and thought I would pass along to remind everyone to get their entries in. This runs the same as the QM, so if you want to get free entry into the games, you must pre-register.

Sadly, JK and I will be missing this inaugural event as we will be in Austin, Texas for the US Team Nationals. But I would like to encourage everyone to attend, as I have been working with the great gents in the Ventura league and this has been a long journey for them to get this going. I would hope that the great people of SoCal could step up and make this first effort for them a great success!

Also, as an added note, last year JK and I took the Amtrak train to Santa Barbara and we noticed that Amtrak has a stop and the site for this event. So if you want to skip the driving, check out the train! It was $54 each round trip for us and well worth the price!

Just a reminder that the Ventura Dart Association are hosting their very first ADO sanctioned dart tourney coming up on the weekend of October 11. There is a deadline for preregistration which will get you into the festival for free. The deadline for pre sign ups is Sept 30^th so I strongly encourage you to go to our website at www.sbdarts.org and click on “Tourneys” to download the flier for the event. You need to sign up for at least 2 events for both days to get a festival pass.

I really hope to see a strong showing from the Santa Barbara Dart Association to show support to Ventura for putting on this event. There are sure to be the best players in Southern California at this event and it should be a great time for everyone.
