Grand Slam of #Darts Hankey v Beaton at the 2nd break
Beaton comes back from trailing 3-0 to take a 6-4 lead. This session saw Beaton pepper the board with 180's and the crowd turn up the Boos against Hankey. But Hankey did have his say by finishing 84 on the bull and serve notice that he's not going quietly!

Grand Slam of #Darts Hankey v Taylor
In a fantastic display of darts Hankey qualifies beating Taylor 5-4. In the post match interview Taylor admits Hankey outplayed him and that he's considering playing without the glasses in his next match. Hankey acknowledges that the crow is warming to him, and that he's on much better form than last year. Phil will have to face an on form Wes Newton to move on to the knockout rounds.

DARTS legend Bobby George believes Dave Chisnall could become the sport’s new superstar – and give Phil Taylor a run for his money.
Chisnall, 29, meets BDO world No.1 Tony O’Shea in the semi-finals of the Lakeside Championships this afternoon after a stunning fightback to knock out defending champion Ted Hankey.
BBC commentator and double world runner-up George tipped ‘Chizzy’ to go all the way before the start of the tournament.
And Chisnall produced some amazing darts to snatch a shock 5-4 win, despite trailing 4-1 against ‘The Count’.
George said: “If he could start a match like he finished against Ted, then no-one can beat him.
“He could even beat Phil Taylor. He has the bottle, he doesn’t care.
“People ask me all the time about Phil Taylor and I say he is a once in a lifetime player, it’s just a shame he came along in my lifetime.
“But Dave could be the second. He was averaging 121 against Ted. That’s 11 and 12-dart finishes in every leg of 501.”
Taylor won the first of his 15 world titles at Lakeside in 1990 as a BDO player, when he was also 29, and he has since gone on to dominate the sport.
The Power is now the dominating force of the PDC show and Chisnall could be one of those to join their ranks in the future.
Chisnall, who is making only his second appearance at the World Championships, won last year’s BDO British Open and George said: “Three weeks ago I said I fancied him as a dark horse.
“People laughed at me when they saw the draw come out but they are not laughing now.”
It has not been a good week for Hankey, though.
Along with losing at Lakeside, he has also been fined £250 by the Darts Regulation Authority for swearing on camera while on stage at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.

Darts: Ted ‘The Count’ Hankey is coming to Prees
PREES Cricket and Recreation Club is in preparation for a huge night of exhibition darts as world number 11 Ted ‘The Count’ Hankey entertains tonight.
Former BDO World Champion Hankey, from Telford, is set to play 22 games on the night against amateurs from the area.
Gary Dawson who runs the club, said: “We’ve never had an individual world champion here so it is a bit of a landmark.” (full article...)

BDO World champion Ted Hankey plays allcomers at the Railway pub in Ormskirk
THERE aren’t many people who can say they’ve beaten a world champion at his very own game.
But that is exactly what happened when darts star Ted Hankey, fresh from his second BDO World Championship win in January, stepped up to the oche at the Railway pub in Ormskirk.
Fuelled by pints of lager and the promise of a kebab at the end of the night, “The Count”, as he is known by his legions of fans, spent five hours at the Derby Street establishment on Sunday, challenging all who dared, signing autographs and posing for pictures, and even raffling two of his trademark capes for charity. Locals are out to beat the Count
CURRENT BDO World Professional Darts champion Ted Hankey will be showcasing his skills on the oche in Redruth next week.
'The Count', as he is affectionately known, will be giving players from the area a chance to pit their wits against him at the Oxford Inn pub on Monday, from 7pm onwards as part of a special promotion by the local brewery. (full article...)

The Count rises again
Ted Hankey had to go through a lot in order to become the BDO World Champion for a second time.
For many, Hankey is what the game of professional darts is all about because he is someone that unloads an array of emotions and fully exploits his on-stage persona to keep the crowd entertained.
It shouldn't be forgotten though that he is also an excellent player. When he is on form, he is one of the best to watch. (full article...)

TED HANKEY reckons Phil Taylor is dead scared of facing him on the oche.
From SOD Hearn interview:
Q: Mr Hearn, Why are you against the head to head between Hankey & Taylor?
A: I don't see how it can harm the PDC in any way. Even if you see the result as a
foregone conclusion it would still reflect positively.
• I’m not against a head-to-head – where did you get that idea from?
I’m in favour of it as I think it’s an easy game for Phil and easy money too.
Unfortunately, that’s what TV companies also think too; that it’s a mismatch and not
worth the money. Phil Taylor doesn’t play these type of games unless he gets well
rewarded.
I should add that we offered Ted Hankey £220,000 “Winner-Takes-All” with Phil
Taylor putting up £125,000 and Ted putting up £95,000, but funnily enough this got
turned down.
Seriously, if a TV company came to us with an acceptable fee, we would do this
match in a heartbeat.

BDO champ ‘The Count’ Hankey wants a showdown with his opposite number from the rival PDC.
Hankey, a big fan of Count Dracula and horror films, splashed out £2,000 on a second-hand funeral hearse yesterday to ferry the Prince of Dartness around in style.
Hankey declared: “For some reason Taylor is running away and does not seem keen on facing me.
“He’s scared. He must have seen me hit 42 180s on my way to the world title and perhaps that’s frightened him.
“Phil’s not big on his maximums. He knows that I have the game to beat him.
“I have even bought a new car which we can put him in the back of once I have finished with him.
“I love the car. I am going to get it customised and maybe even put a coffin in the back.
“I’ll drive it everywhere, to exhibitions and tournaments.”
Initial talks are underway to stage a mouth-watering match — the best of 13 sets — to decide the undisputed king of tungsten.
Hankey insists he will play Taylor any place, anywhere and any time — well almost, as long as it is after sunset. (story source...)

Darts champion Ted Hankey gets tattoo in Kinmel Bay
PRINCE of "Dartness", Ted "The Count" Hankey has been inked by his favourite tattooist to celebrate his second-time world title.
The BDO champ from Rhyl called into Psycho Tattoos in Kinmel Bay for his 12th marking.
His latest decoration – the bride of Dracula – was done by friend Paul Campion from the Foryd Road shop, just before the vampire-lover splashed out £2,000 on a funeral hearse. (full article...)

BDO WORLD PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009
The BDO Finals from Lakeside are on today, and it looks to be a great match! However there is one thing I have noticed about the events at Lakeside that is not great...
and that would be the press coverage! It does not compare to the gallons (liters)
of ink poured out about the PDC and the Ally Pally....
Maybe it's about charisma of the PDC Players and the PDC's marketing machine, because it seems that the standard of play in both the PDC and the BDO has been on the rise over the past few years...

Thisisdorset - The Count strikes
FORMER world darts champion Ted "The Count" Hankey put on a super show for fans at Weymouth's Park Hotel.
"He was meant to play 16 matches to 701 against the regulars but he ended up playing 25," said Park landlord Pete Smith. "He gave an excellent exhibition including throwing two darts backwards to get a three out. One went into one and the other into double one."
Three regulars managed to get the better of the former world champion who has just returned from a ten-day tour to Holland.
