Olly Croft offered new role at BDO #darts
Incoming BDO chairman Barry Gilbey claims in a new interview with Darts! Monthly that we may not have seen the last of its creator Olly Croft within the organisation. Gilbey suggests that the man who helped popularise the game in the 1970s has been offered a new role as figurehead of BDO – the lifetime president. It is not yet known if the previous BDO chairman is going to consider this new role. http://www.dartsmonthly.com/news/olly-croft-offered-new-role-at-bdo |

the ‘image’ of #darts not being deemed ‘suitable’
I know that the subject of the image of the game of darts and dartsplayers has been a topic that may have been beat about a great deal, but the BDO has put it out that the games image is a key factor in securing sponsorships. Do we have an "image problem", and what can we do to change it?

TARGET DARTS SIGN WORLD CHAMPION ADRIAN LEWIS #darts
We are delighted to welcome reigning World Champion Adrian Lewis to the Target Darts family.
Seven months after lifting darts most prestigious prize, the most exciting talent in world darts joins us, having signed an exclusive three-year deal with the company.
The World Champion was thrilled to be joining the Target Darts player roster saying:
“It is a great move for me as the company make the best darts in the business. To stay at the top, I need the finest equipment to hand, and that is exactly what I will get with Target Darts”.
Our ongoing commitment to a variety of community-based initiatives also attracted the World Champion to the company, with Adrian noting:
“I have enjoyed great success, but I am a working-class lad from Stoke-on-Trent at heart, and I will never forget my roots. As a World Champion, I understand that I am in a privileged position and I am keen to use that position to help others. I will clearly get that opportunity with Target Darts, which is very appealing. That ultimately made my decision to sign with the company a very straightforward one”.
Target Darts Managing Director, Mr Garry Plummer, was naturally thrilled to secure the services of the World Champion, commenting:
“Adrian is a phenomenal player, and a vibrant personality, who fits in with our vision of excellence and innovation. He is also someone who can help us with our important charitable and community-based work. We have without doubt acquired a champion player, who shares our passion and ambition to be the best in the game”.
Mr Plummer was especially pleased to have concluded the deal with Adrian, as it came amidst strong competition from rival manufacturers, adding:
“Adrian is one of the hottest properties in the darts world, and his signature sends out a very positive message regarding our standing in the professional game. It also gives the quality of our products a huge seal of approval. It is a great honour that the World Champion would choose to sign with us, and the next three years promises to be an exciting time for both Target Darts and Adrian Lewis”.
The Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis signature darts range appears as part of the new Target Darts catalogue, and are available to buy from all good darts retailers from the 1st of August 2011.

The European Championships Aug. 3, 2011 Dartoids World Article #darts
Greetings!
Today, with his column The European Championships, the Old Dart Coach contemplates the return to the predictable "order" of life at the upper echelons of the darting world:
There is supposed to be “order” in the world. While people may not like it, gripe about it or approve of it they are comfortable and somewhat accepting. When that order is disturbed there is a malady that hangs over the populace.
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Okay, good idea. Clowns are elected to public office, spend every penny the government collects, then raise taxes for more money, blame the taxpayer for not paying enough and then said clowns are expected to solve the problem they caused.

Darts ain’t an Olympic shoo-in – there’s (plastic) competition!
They call him the “Dragon” and he’s a former world champion. He has basked in the glory of his ‘sport,’ one that some describe as “just the right mix of skill and intellect.” Growing older and with a family, he is still highly regarded, puts in the practice and travels frequently in his quest to add another world championship to his resume. And he’s currently one of the most well known and popular promoters of his game.
But who is the Dragon? And with recent rumblings of a push to see his ‘sport’ added as a demonstration activity at the 2012 London Olympics one must also ask: Why the hell is the Olympics in London?
Was Toledo booked?
