#darts from the email stack... Trenton NJ, annual charity dart event - April 9, 2011

Hey everyone -

I am pleased to announce that the Greater Trenton Dart League has partnered with the Make A Wish Foundation of NJ for our 6th annual Darts for Dreams dart-a-thon on April 9th, 2011 at Cook Athletic Association in Trenton, NJ. So far, we have collected and donated over $65,000 to the charity in our first five years.

If anyone is in the area, please consider coming out and attending. It's a fun event where everyone's a winner and no one's a loser.

This is not a tournament. You don't need to be there for the start, or stay until the end. The doors open at noon, and we start shooting at 1 PM.

There is a donation at the door of $10. Then, for a $5 entry, you shoot 51 darts for high score. You can shoot 1 time, 5 times, 50 times, it doesn't matter much to me. The high scorers each hour will receive a cash prize.

Throughout the day, we'll have raffles, a 50/50 and a silent auction full of merchandise collected by our sponsors and donors.

If anyone is interested in helping out buy making a donation, buying an ad for your league or business, just email me.

We will also be selling $5 raffle tickets between now and the event. The winning tickets will be drawn at the event itself. The prizes are a 50" Plasma TV, an Apple iPad and an Apple iPod Touch. If you want to buy tickets, let me know and we'll figure out the exchange. If you win, shipping costs are on you of course.

Thanks everyone - and please spread the word, particularly if you're in the area.

Tough ask - Australia's next darts champion

He may not have won the most recent world title, but Phil 'The Power' Taylor has had a stranglehold on the sport of darts for the better part of two decades.

And the question after closely watching the most recent World Darts Championship is: why?

Here, surely, is a sport tailor-made for an Aussie to take the mantle as the world's best. Simon "the Wizard" Whitlock went close to unseating Taylor in 2010 as the world's undisputed king when he made the final of the world title match.

While he fell at the last hurdle, the Sydney-born Aussie has the makings of a future champ.

ADO - Steve Brown #darts Brownie's Blog 1-19-11

Tonight, I Celebrate…

…or perhaps I shouldn’t…
My first blog of 2011 focuses on a situation that seems to be causing friction these days. I’m tired of hearing how unnecessary and “unsporting” it is to show even a little emotion after hitting a big shot. Why?

Unheralded #darts player scoops title

Unheralded darts player John Mlay convincingly overwhelmed Eliakim Kwesigabo by 3-0 sets to win the Dar es Salaam regional championship singles’ title in the final match played at Katumba Darts Club over the weekend.
Mlay exhibited his stunning performance on the dartboard in the first two legs of the best of five legs’ duel to keep his opponent at bay, with the latter completely lacking means to stage a fight back.

How to get into youth Darts? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

#darts The ideal scenario would be for the two federations to unify...

Darts- BDO Versus PDC.
For a sport (no arguments here, please), as small as Darts, it seems somewhat surprising that there are two separate organisations representing the game. As a youngster slowing becoming encapsulated by the nerveless accuracy of these beer guzzling athletes I could never understand how there were two World Championships occurring at the same time, on the BBC and Sky Sports respectively.

Help Youth Darts! The Ontario #Youth Provincials for #Darts

dartplayer.net post by Rocky: The Ontario Youth Provincials for Darts are being held during March Break in St.Catherines. I thought it would be very encouraging to our young players if they could get some rewards, prizes and mementos at that tournament. If the adult darting community could donate things or small amounts of money towards this, the kids would understand that we value what they are doing. Their dedication, their discipline, their practice and hard work are appreciated by us. We are happy they are choosing to play our sport, and we are really happy they are staying out of trouble by being involved in our pastime.

Please send along something that we can give to the young players - that set of darts you will never use, a Tshirt from a tournament you will never wear, dart supplies, maybe gift certificates, dart books, anything that the kids will enjoy and that will show them you care and you are proud of them. I have a set of Chris White darts that I am going to give to them to start it off.

When the kids register, they will be given a free ticket for a Draw and all the prizes will be given out this way.

Send it to me and I will arrange it all - 178 Main Street, Parkhill, Ontario, N0M 2K0.

Thanks in advance - the kids will be really happy and really uplifted by your support.

If you have any questions or want to discuss possible donations, email me at wild78flh at hotmail dot com

Bob Anderson Exhibition #Darts Anyone interested in planning a North American Pro Darts Exhibition Tour?

I've heard that Bob Anderson is back from his surgery and is on the darts exhibition circuit again. I'm thinking we all should work together and put together a North American Exhibition Tour for Bob. If there is interest on working on this please post a comment or click my email link here on the blog. I can also be PM'ed on any of the darts forums I participate on.
