For those who havent seen it plastered on FB, here's the scoop:
My son steven "ringer" Wilcox has been greatfully invited To the Puma Darts international dart camp in Shanghai China at the end July till the 8th of August.
This is a week of darts and exploring Chinese culture.
Steven is one of only 10 youth players world wide chosen for this event, and thanks goes out to Chris White for the invite.
They will be promoting youth darts have training sessions with the likes of Scotty Burnett, and playing a few tournaments.
While there they also get a tour of the Chinese museum of natural history, visit the shanghai expo, and take a trip on the pujaine (sp?) river.
This camp for a young dart player is a once in a life time chance.
All cost are covered with exception of the airfare. When he books his flight, after he lands in shanghai, 1/2 the airfare is returned to him.
So, with all that said, we're trying to raise $3000 in three weeks to allow Steven the chance to do this.
Anyone that donates, Will receive 1/2 their donation back when he returns...we just have to pay full upfront first.
We are currently setting up an account and a PayPal donation account for anyone wanting to help out.
I'm currently working on having Steven fly out of Detroit, to Sacramento Cali, meeting up with either Chris white or Scotty Burnett, and then flying from there to shanghai.....

#darts The Parkhill Youth Fundraiser! 2011

A message from "Rocky"

After a year off from fundraising, the Parkill Youth Darts Fundraiser is back in full tilt.

Date booked for September 17/2011, at the Parkhill Legion.
Format and times will be announced at a later time.

Again I'm hoping for the great generosity of the dart world out there for a bit of support on this. We have had some great donators in the past from World Champions, to top pros to regular dart players to businesses.

This year we are starting fresh, with a $0. Bank account.

Funds raised from this silent auction event during our tourney will go toward team shirts for the kids, dart supplies (as I usually try to supply everything needed for them to enjoy the sport).

Also helps pay for some travel we do as a team to many local tourneys.

We also have an end of the year banquet for the kids, to show their appreciation and love of the sport, and to show we care and would love to have them back next season (as more and more always do return).

So here's my request to everyone out there, darts, shafts, flights, shirts, novelty items, passes, signed programs, anything and everything that would be good for a silent auction is greatly appreciated.

As I stated, we didn't do this last year as we still had a small balance in the account, but this year were starting with zero, so it desperately needed.

We always have a good turnout for this event, usually around 80 players (not bad for only 10 boards), so the more the merrier!

No such thing as too small or too big, every penny helps.

And as always, the leagues books are always open for anyone to see where the money has went, we are 100 percent NON profit, so every penny raised goes toward the youth players.

As a side note, in the six years I have been working with the Youth League, I have given away over 40 sets of darts, thousands of shafts and flights, cases, shirts, and supplies, along with making our fundraising totals reach over the $2000.00 mark, every penny going right back to the youth players, so as you can see, this is something close to my heart, and I'm hoping some of you can help make our league bigger and better this year!

Help Youth Darts! The Ontario #Youth Provincials for #Darts

I thought it would be very encouraging to our young players if they could get some rewards, prizes and mementos at that tournament. If the adult darting community could donate things or small amounts of money towards this, the kids would understand that we value what they are doing. Their dedication, their discipline, their practice and hard work are appreciated by us. We are happy they are choosing to play our sport, and we are really happy they are staying out of trouble by being involved in our pastime.

 

Please send along something that we can give to the young players - that set of darts you will never use, a Tshirt from a tournament you will never wear, dart supplies, maybe gift certificates, dart books, anything that the kids will enjoy and that will show them you care and you are proud of them. I have a set of Chris White darts that I am going to give to them to start it off.

 

When the kids register, they will be given a free ticket for a Draw and all the prizes will be given out this way.

Please support youth darts! - Auction Items Going up For Grabs!

Ok, as most are aware, This month I run a Funraiser Tourney for my youth dart league. This year i have decided to add to the punch. Some items are going to be put up listed on here and Torontodarts.com for Everyones Bidding pleasures. These items have been donated by some great players and sponsors. The day of the event (April 25th from 11am till 3 pm Est) I will be broadcasting Live Via the internet the goings on of the event. These Silent Auction items will be placed out and players and visitors will thn have a chance at bidding on these items. If you would like to get in on the bidding of any of these items, 1. You MUST contact me no later thn April 23 At which time you will let me know YOUR TOP price for the item. Your name will then be added to the Bidding list on the day of the event. IF you get out bid and there is time remaining before the auction closes I will post it and let you know. so that you have a chance to bid again if needed. All winners will be notified the evening of the event (Or watch it live to see who won it). Any Winning bidder outside of the event will need to pay shipping costs (Done with the smallest amount of $$ possible). Once you have placed a bid, it becomes a contract for that event. All sales will be final. PAyment must be made within 10 days after the auction.
This auction and fundraiser is to benifit the youth dart league, to help pay for their trips to Provincial Championships each year, and thier final banquet of the year.
This year again Steven and I are raising money to have our heads shaved.. Again.. Last year $166. was made for Al and Myself to have it shaved, We looking to double that if we can... AHHHH... and to think i havent cut it since last year either... Im gonna miss it...But well worth the cause..

Hello, my name is Ron (Rocky) Wilcox and I run a youth dart league in Parkhill, Ontario Canada. I am writing to you today because I am organizing a fundraiser to help send 12 of our players to the Youth Provincial Championships in St. Catherine’s, Ontario.




I would like to take a moment of your time to offer you a little bit of information about our league. This league was started five years ago, and I took over running it four years ago, teaching these youths the game of darts. We started out with 5 youth players from ages 10 – 17, and we now have grown to 36 players from ages 7-18. We attend regular league nights every Wednesday for 1.5 hours. We also compete in many tournaments all over the province. We have sent many players to Provincial Championships each year. This year we are sending 12 players next month and 12 players again in May.

We run a youth dart tournament fundraiser to help support the cost of these trips. As you can appreciate, sending 12 players to the Provincial Championships can cost close to $4,000.00 for the weekend. This would include the travel expenses, as well as hotel charges, and the cost of food and fees. Last year we ran a tournament to try to raise funds to cover these expenses. 81 adult players attended and we raised just under $900.00 in five hours! This included me getting my head shaved for a whopping $166.00! This year we are hoping to raise just a bit more to help out with the costs. We have received a few great donations from a few sponsors, but we are looking for a few top notch items to help bring in those extra dollars. All items are auctioned off via a silent auction, so the bidding can get a little crazy sometimes! However, anything helps, such as dart boards, darts, shirts, flights, gift certificates, any small or large items, sport passes, I'm Cinderella! Passes, etc. Anything and everything is accepted and the more the merrier.



I have included a link to our youth web page, however, it has not been updated for a few weeks, as our stats lady has been sick, but you can still see the great work these kids have put in, as well as their achievements, and some articles from newspapers.

Fund Raiser appeal to help youth darts.....

hey Players, well the time has come for the PArkhill Youth Dart Team's annual Fundraiser dart tourney and Silent Auction. Last year we had great support from many different ppl and companies. We raised just under $900. for the day. The total funds went 100% to the youth league, in turn paid for the players trip to Youth Provincials in Belleville ontario (about 600 klm away). I had my head shaved this day which raised about $165 also... not bad for hair...lol..

This year we are sending 12 players to youth Provincials. We are planning another tourney in mid April. I already have some great items for the silent auction (which is where we make the $$.. since the tourney is 100% payout.)

So far we have shirts and darts coming from David Fatum, John PArt Shirts and a set of his darts. We have local items such as a few gift certificates.

We are looking to see if anyone else would be interested n donating ANYTHING to help out this cause. Dart Shirts, Sets of Darts, PAcks of flights, Cases.. anything that might bring in a few dollars for the youth league.
