The story in this match was Phillips missing the large wedges when trying to setup a finish which repeated gave him one less, or no darts at the double, which in the end cost him the match. Some highlights were both players having shots at 9 darters after 6 darts, and both hitting some spectacular ton plus finishes.

Just joining a all level 2-2 and Phillips is throwing and wins the set.

Set 2
Phillips is throwing great darts and is scoring well to take the first leg. In the second leg Adams had a dart at d18 to take the leg, but missed and Phillips was back to take the leg. In the 3rd leg Scoring was erratic for both, but Adams finishes the tom+  check out on the bull. Leg 4 After being down over 200 points and Phillips on waiting 53 Adams hits a 180 to leave himself 40, Phillips does not finish the the 53 leaving 40, and Adams leaves 20, Philips leaves 20 Adams is back to level the set 2-2.

Adams scoring well enough to get to the double, but double trouble for Adams missing 7 darts for the set, and allows Phillips to work his way down and take the set.

Philips takes to first leg of the tie-break with a strong ton plus finish

With Robson on 114 Philips wants 24 and hits the d12 on the third dart to move on to the Semi-finals with a 5-4 win.

DARTS - Phillips in world title tilt

WELSH skipper and Gwynedd County Darts player Martin Phillips will take part in his eighth world championship in the New Year.
His first round opponent in the Lakeside BDO World Professional Championships on January 4, will be Scotland's Ross Montgomery.

Phillips was in action last week when he made the quarter-finals of the Zuiderduin Masters in the Netherlands. (full article...)
