Played well, darts is a graceful, fluid,
effortless-looking sport. Put a dart in the hands of a good player and
it looks like the easiest thing in the world.
Try it for yourself, however, and you'll find out that it takes a
great deal of skill to nail bullseyes — or the board itself, for that
matter. Darts wobble, hit the wires, and bounce off the board for no
clear reason. If you're playing in public - the local pub, for instance
-- getting the basics down can be an embarrassing process. Save
yourself some frustration: follow these pointers and you'll be be, well
not nailing bullseyes, but doing a fair share better than the amateurs
around you.

#darts Donny Joe writes: Here I Come – The World Stage 2: Game On!
I’m heading to Hong Kong for The World Stage 2 in April 2012. Woohoo! I’ve been to many tournaments in my 20+ years of playing, but I have never been to a tournament where I’ve had this much anticipation and excitement. Not only am I excited about the opportunity to play in The World event, but it will be my first time in Asia. I just wish my Cantonese was stronger.

#darts Dart throwers target Pocatello; AMOI State Dart Tournament held at Ramada Inn - Dart throwers target Pocatello; AMOI State Dart Tournament held at Ramada Inn: Local:
Bullseye.
That was the goal Saturday as over 200 dart throwers took over Pocatello’s Ramada Inn to compete in various games as part of the AMOI State Dart Tournament.
Darts is normally a pub game, but once a year the Amusement and Music Owners of Idaho (AMOI) host an event as a gesture of gratitude for all of the players that participate in the state’s many leagues and tournaments.

3/22/12 Diary of a #Darts Player with Andy Relf - Other Sports - Sussex Express
LAST Friday our team from the Wheel at Burwash had a Heathfield League match against the Cross in Hand team that we had beaten the previous week in the Seamer Cup Final.
This had the makings of a revenge match for the Cross in Hand, but our team had different ideas on that one.

#darts Head Games: How Visual Illusions Improve Sports Performance
A new study finds that athletes are more likely to score when they think
their target — be it a basket or golf hole — is larger than it really
is.Researchers from Purdue University studied 36 college students
putting into a golf hole up a ramp. Using a projector, the researchers
created an optical illusion that showed a ring of circles around the
golf hole which altered its perceived size. In the first trial, they
projected a ring of 11 small circles that made the golf hole look larger
in comparison. In the second trial, they projected five large circles
that made the hole look smaller. Each student putted 10 times in each
trial.

Build a Dartboard Cabinet #darts
Nice "how to" video for the "DIY" types out there. Just remember that the mounting bracket gets mounted to the cabinet so that the board will be nicely centered, and the mounting screw goes in the hole on in the center of the back of the dartboard, so the board can be rotated (the number ring come off) so you can distribute the wear on your dartboard... and a way to go to Windy City Darters

#darts #Dartslive Ventura County Reporter - Hitting the bull's-eye
Sure, the drinks are strong, the bartender spits a good game, and the camaraderie can’t be matched.
But there is another reason why folks from across the county, and beyond, are making their way to Sam’s Saloon in Oxnard: to throw darts.
Some even make the case that the future of the dart-throwing world is in the Oxnard saloon.

#Darts How do you play Cricket?
That was the question that got me thinking...
On a recent league night a guy, I had never met before, asked me that question. I launched into the standard explanation of; three marks are needed to close each of your numbers 20 to 15 and bulls in any order you like, point on your opponent once you close numbers that he hasn't closed, pointing helps you keep your advantage until all of your numbers closed, and once you have all numbers closed and greater than or equal points... you win.
He then proceeded to tell me about several of the different ways he had been told cricket could be played, some I had heard of before but others I had not. We talked about 'Call Cricket', Cricket were no pointing is allowed, Cricket where you must close your numbers in order, playing Cricket with numbers 20 to 12 and Bulls, Cricket when you could only score points by hitting doubles or triples, cricket where if you closed a number with less than two darts you got another turn.... for some games he did not remember the rules...
So it got me thinking...
How many different ways are there that Cricket can be played? Have you heard of or played any of these games?
If you play a different "brand" of Cricket, please tell us about it and post the rules.
