THE Wayside Cheer witnessed ‘Pecker’ take on the ‘The Wizard’, ‘The Viking’, ‘Psycho Sid’, ‘The Welsh Rarebit’ and an assortment of other lesser-known local darts players last week.
While Chelsea were making Andy Gray struggle to spit out superlatives to describe their 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League, there was not a TV in sight in the ballroom at the Wayside where a professional-looking stage and dart board, complete with coloured lighting, scoreboard and sound system had been set up. NEW INTERVIEW WITH BRIAN 'PECKER' WOODS
Brian, thanks for talking to us. What has the year been like for you since
reaching the semi-finals at Lakeside?
It's been good this year. I've had a couple of good wins and everybody
knows me now.
There is a big season coming up starting with the Grand Slam of Darts.
You will come up against a large group of players that you are not used to
facing. What are your thoughts on this event and what's your preparation
