Radstock darts player Steve Grubb had his ranking pushed up to 78 in the Professional Darts Corporation's order of merit this week.
The rise came after he reached the last 32 at the Blue Square UK Open in Bolton, which earned him £2,000 in prize money.
As landlord of the Lamb Inn at Clandown, Grubb has his hands full juggling practice, running the pub and playing in regular weekend tournaments.
He is therefore thankful for the earnings – not only as it is this that determines rankings, but also as it pays for his travels to other major dart tournaments.
Thanks to the money, he can now take part in a tournament in Barnsley this weekend, followed by Germany the next.
He then flies to Las Vegas to play in two tournaments, from which he hopes to qualify for the Las Vegas Desert Classic. (full article...)

Grubb qualifies for UK Open TV stages - Thursday, May 21, 2009
Radstock darts player Steve Grubb has qualified for the final stages of the Blue Square UK Open next month.
...
"If I can get to the last 16, it would be worth £4,000, then £8,000 for the last eight," he said.
"The pro-tour events in Australia and Canada will probably cost £3,500-£4,000."
Grubb receives sponsorship from internet darts equipment supplier Darts Corner and has already booked his trip to compete at the Las Vegas Desert Classic, but is keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in providing further sponsorship.
Anyone interested should contact Grubb at the Lamb on 01761 435777.

Eric Bristow expects his former protege Phil 'The Power' Taylor to be the king of Alexandra Palace and claim his 14th world title this year.
Taylor begins his challenge for the Ladbrokes.com PDC championship against qualifier Steve Grubb next week and Bristow warned it will take an exceptional three-dart average to stop him.

Darts: Taylor prepares for trip into unknown
PHIL Taylor's bid for world title number 14 starts at Alexandra Palace this month starts with a trip into the unknown.
Yesterday's draw for the first round of the PDC Ladbrokes.com world championship pitted Bradwell thrower Taylor against Steve Grubb, while Cross Heath's Adrian Lewis meets veteran Russell Stewart from Australia and Talke Pits publican Andy Hamilton takes on Michael Barnard in the event, which starts a week on Friday.
Taylor and Grubb have never met in competition before and while the publican from Radstock in Somerset is ranked 89th in the latest PDC listings, he showed his capabilities by reaching the last 16 of the PDPA Players Championship in Ireland in October and claiming the scalp of Gary Mawson, who reached the final of the Blue Square UK Open final in June. Grubb served up for Taylor
Top seed Phil Taylor will take on qualifier Steve Grubb in the first round of the World Darts Championship, while defending champion John Part faces American Bill Davis and Colin Lloyd plays Jelle Klaasen in the tie of the round.
The draw was made live on Sky Sports News, and it threw up some interesting clashes as the seeds lined up against qualifiers and international hopefuls for the tournament.
13-time world champion Taylor is always the prize draw, and he will play Radstock publican Grubb in his opening round match at Alexandra Palace.
