Chris Schenkel, an Indiana icon and one of the founding fathers of sports broadcasting, died early Sunday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after a long battle with emphysema. He was 82.
Schenkel's radio and television broadcasting career spanned more than 60 years and included virtually every major sports competition.">Sports broadcasting icon dies after battling illness: "September 12, 2005
Well I can't really say if Chris Schenkel ever did a darts broadcast, but he is a figure that I grew up with and his sports coverage of all types of sorts truly enlightened me. I must say that I'm disappointed that there has been little coverage on TV of his passing.
