Dartoids World 6-27-2010, #darts
Greetings!
On a scorching hot Las Vegas mid-day the first dart was thrown in anger for the new World Series of Darts Festival. The clever Yanks had lured the wily Brits into a game of cricket. While named for the English game that is more sleep inducing than a speech by Al Gore North America’s game of cricket darts is a spellbinder -

youth #darts fund-raising appeal... “Cold Blooded” Miles and Shannon Gallagher
If you can possibly send a contribution – $10, $25, $50, $100 or more, or less – to help a couple of kids chase their darts dream it will be gratefully appreciated.
The fund-raising goal to enable their participation in this year’s Youth Nationals is $1,200. About half of the amount has already been pledged or collected. A deposit for their entries has been sent to Katie Harris at the ADO office. But the balance must be raised quickly since the competition is drawing near.

#darts from the email stack... tourney
Some of you may have been to the website lately and seen the new tournaments that I posted as well as the new summer league starting in Santa Maria . Hopefully some of you can make up a 3 man team for the new league and join us. Should be lots of fun!
But the main reason I’m sending this e-mail out today is to let you know that the new big money soft tip tourney in Lompoc is NOT going to be happening tonight or next week. They have some other big event that is not allowing the darts to be happening. It will resume on Saturday night July 3rd. Now if you haven’t been to the website to know what I’m talking about, go to the site and read about it! We are a steel tip league but this tourney is a chance to win some serious cash! $10 buy in pays out $200 guaranteed for first place and pays down to third place. There is no handicap like most soft tip tourneys so this is a chance to go in head to head.
Read about both new tourneys (Steel and soft) as well as the new summer league at www.sbdarts.org
Game on!

Joy For Wright & Bromberg - #darts
American star Bromberg and Surrey-based Wright will contest for the £10,000 winner's cheque at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool next month after winning through the last 32 in Barnsley.
Bromberg, who has based in Las Vegas, hit the jackpot with a narrow 4-3 win over Anastasia Dobromyslova in their semi-final contest, with the Russian hitting back from 3-0 down to force a decider.

$1,500+ Mystery Out Pot
Arachnid Boards.
=============================================
You saw that right. $1,500 mystery out!
Over the past few weeks, this event has been consistently drawing over 50+ players. Payout is to top 4 places. First place purse has been averaging about $260.
Format is --- 501Open In/Open Out,Cricket,Choice; Double Elimination, best of 3 in both winners and loser's brackets
First leg starts with a coin flip...coin flip winner starts the first leg.
Loser of first leg starts the 2nd leg of Cricket.
3rd leg tiebreaker starts with a coin flip....winner of this flip gets the option to either.... go first or choose the game (501 or Cricket).
If a male and female are paired together.....the team with the female will go first in the first leg and the female must start the leg.....unless both teams are male/female pairs....then you coin flip to see who starts the first leg....female will always throw first in the first leg.
501 open in and open out. Finish on a triple, double, or single out. Easy peasy lemon squeezy....eh!
Split bull in all games....yea, that's right....a split bull, just like the steel game. Which means everybody is gunning for the Triple 20 (not the bull). This format is ideal for experienced steel tip players.
This year will feature an exclusive "finals oche" with IMAG of board and scores displayed on a 50" plasma suspended from a truss structure. That's right folks we are moving into the big time here.

This logo and sponsor loop will include our Tier 3 sponsors and show appreciation to all the sponsors and players that have supported the 2010 Houston Open. Thank you players!!!

Andy's Blog post - #darts
Taylor Triumphs ... But Is It Too Predictable?
And Phil Taylor's done it again.
Not only winning the UK Open Finals over the weekend (broadcast on Sky Sports) but setting a new world record for the highest average ever in a televised darts match. A spectacular 118.3 average during his 9-0 win over Kevin Painter.
What was disappointing with the tournament was how his opponents caved in while playing him. With the exception of Simon Whitlock and for a time Denis Ovens, everyone else collapsed like a pack of cards.

Dartoids World 6-8-2010
The Premier League Final “A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the Malamute saloon” is the opening line of the poem by Robert Service titled “The Shooting of Dan McGrew.” Fast forward to May 23, 2010 and the Wembley Arena where a bunch of darts fans were ready to whoop it up for the 2010 Premier League Finals. Funny thing happened – a power outage delayed the event 24 hour’s. That held the crowd to only 2,000 which doesn’t include a nationwide TV audience. Next door at Wembley Stadium England was laying a 3-1 “green card check” on Mexico in a friendly prior to soccer’s World Cup coming in June. When things got going in the Arena “The Power” got going full blast.
