"As long as the Killian family of Thetford Township remains active, Flint's darts team for the CANUSA Games is in no danger of running low on numbers.

The Killians annually provide six members of the team by themselves, helping to ensure Flint not only has the numbers to compete with the team from Hamilton, Ontario, but some quality, as well.

They do more to promote the sport than simply compete, which is why the Killian family is this year's recipient of the James A. Littell Award. The award is given each year to the family that demonstrates outstanding participation in the Flint Olympian or CANUSA Games.

.....

Darts have been part of the CANUSA Games official lineup since 1989. While the sport tends to be more popular in Canada, Hamilton's lead in the series is only 9-8. The host city has won the sport 13 times in those 17 years, which bodes well for Flint, because the games will be held here Aug. 4 and 5.

"It's a little bit bigger in Canada, but it's really picking up here," Kevin Killian said."
