Tony David, winner of the Embassy World Championship in 2002, lost the chance to regain the Lakeside title in January when he fell at the first hurdle in qualifying on Thursday.

The 39-year-old Australian, a haemophiliac who cannot straighten his throwing arm, shocked the darts world when he beat Mervyn King in the final at Frimley Green four years ago.
