A heroic effort from 60-year-old Bobby George on Thursday was not quite enough to earn him a place at the Lakeside World Championship in January.
The player known as 'Mr Glitter', World Championship runner-up in 1980 and 1994, won four qualifying matches at the international play-offs in Bridlington but fell at the penultimate hurdle.
