Queens give themselves lifeline

STRUGGLERS The Queen's Head have given themselves a life-line in their battle to climb off the bottom.

In dramatic fashion, the Alnwick pub side narrowly beat Alnwick Golf Club 4-3, taking a team-leg victory in the clash between the bottom two sides.

And the last-gasp victory saw The Queen's reduce the deficit to just eight points at the foot of the table and claw closer towards the golf club side.

At the right half of the league, leaders Alnwick Town A continued to show their championship credentials by beating third-place Alnwick Arms. Despite some good darts from the Arms, the football club side enjoyed a convincing 6-1 win.

But the race for second-place is still alive after Alnmouth Village were unable to take advantage of the Arms' defeat. (full article...)
