More debate on Sports Personality of the Year.
"I mean no disrespect to any of the candidates but what the nation had do chose from was hardly a collection of world beaters. Jenson Button won one race in F1 because it rained, Monty Panesar played one good match at Headingly and the boxing duo (Hatton and Calzagie) continue to thrive in a sport that lacks real depth. Is darts actually a sport? (answers on a post card).
Stand It Up!: Sports Personality or Royal Prerogative?"

Cheers for the post. I totally agree with you on that one. I personally believe darts to be a sport but I was just trying to be balanced in the article as many believe it not to be so. Watching Phil over the years, the way that he dominates opponents, his consistancy, his ice cold nerve in those hostile atmospheres is inspirational. How many more title defences does Calzaghe need to do?More recognition required, certainly considering that people were nominated for winning virtually nothing. But the public voted and unfortunately for the power his sport is not on the BBC or highly regarded by the majority of people and most importantly he is not inbred, german or have a title (royal that is ...)
Well said! I must agree! Taylor's resolve and persistence deserves to be rewarded even if he were playing "dodge ball!" Show me anyone that has a winning record that even comes close to his, not to mention winning when the pressure is truly on!
