A PACKED house at Barrow’s Cemetery Cottages Club last night saw top locals Dave Pratt and Dee Bateman crowned Evening Mail Darts king and queen of 2007.
The blonde, supercool Bateman, ranked number six in the world, entered the record books by becoming the first player of either sex to lift the Evening Mail trophy four years in a row after beating the vastly-experienced Sheila Tyson 2-0 in the women’s final.
The men’s showdown was an absorbing affair, with former champion Pratt exploding with delight after steely determination and brilliant throwing saw him come from two games behind to edge home 3-2 against canny darter Brad Reeves, who richly deserves his unofficial title of ‘the Pride of Flookburgh’.
