HE met the two former champions and he darted them with ease to add his name to the prestigious roll of honour list, going alongside James Morel (a four-time winner in five years - 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005) and last year’s winner Donald Monnaie.

Keven Furneau is the new Individual Knockout Curtain-raiser champion, thus claiming his first win of the 2007 season.

A member of the Straight Arrows team, Furneau played a heavy-scoring match to defeat James Morel 2-0 in the best-of-three 501 quarterfinal.

“Winning against James was already a big achievement for me. He has been one of the best players around lately. Even if I did not win the competition, I would have been happy with myself for I had beaten the former champion,” Furneau told Sports Nation.
