Sport - Dearne Today: ALL MEXBOROUGH AFFAIR ON THE ROCK by Chris Brammer

IT WILL be an all-Mexborough affair in Gibraltar on Saturday at the Stan James Players Championships. World number three Dennis Priestley, the newly-crowned PDC Players' Player of the Year takes on his Church Street neighbour and practice partner, Darren Johnson at the Queensway Club. "We are flying over together and there will be a bit of banter between us, but it will be serious when we get down to playing," said Priestley who practices with Johnson at the Ferryboat pub. The winner of the tournament will take away £5,000 and both players are looking forward to the tournament. "Darren's a very good player, his all round game is very strong," said Priestley for whom the tournament will be the last one before the start of the Holsten Premier League Darts season. As for Johnson, 39, his aim is to improve on last season's performance where he was more than match for some of his higher- ranked opponents.
