TRINA GULLIVER hopes the thrilling win that brought her a seventh successive world title will attract the investment needed to secure the future of women's darts.
Gulliver claimed a cheque for £6,000 that she described as "derisory" after holding her nerve in a thrilling deciding leg shoot-out against Frances Hoenselaar to retain her crown at the BDO Lakeside women's world championship in Frimley Green.
The withdrawal of the lucrative women's event at the Bavaria World Trophy last year was a blow to the sport and Gulliver has joined forces with Hoenselaar to set up the Ladies' Darts Association in a bid to bring more money into the sport.

DARTS: Trina on top of the world By Nick Farrant Trina Gulliver (pictured) has spoken of her delight after she lifted the world championship crown for the seventh time with a thrilling 2-1 win against Dutch ace Francis Hoenselaar at the Lakeside, Frimley Green. Gulliver, 37, who plays for The Shears in Wantage, struggled, lost the first set to the world No 2. However, the world No 1, who plays darts for a living, battled back to level at 1-1. The first two legs of the decider were also shared. But in sudden death, Gulliver reached the check-out first and hit double 18 to clinch victory.
