SANDGATE: The Sandgate-based Pine Rivers Darts Club has had to call in reinforcements for this weekend’s Australian Legends Championships.
The 40 boards at the club’s Kempster St headquarters were not enough for the expected rush of 350 players contesting the week-long event and 20 boards have been set up at the nearby Sandgate PCYC.
The two venues will host some of Australia’s best state level players for the over-45 tournament, which kicks off with an opening ceremony on Saturday.
More than 80 teams have nominated for the teams event on Sunday and Monday, while there will be 164 men and 155 women in the singles draw across more than 10 divisions.
An Australian merit team will be selected after the presentation dinner on November 1.
