Gary Anderson to take on darts legend Raymond van Barneveld in Alloa

FIVE-TIMES World darts champion Raymond van Barneveld is heading for Alloa.

The Dutch ace has agreed to take part in a special one off shootout against Scottish hero Gary Anderson in the Clackmannanshire town.

Promoter Davie Hanson has put together the big night on Friday, April 3 to raise funds for the Rachel House Kids Hospice in Kinross.

Van Barneveld is a huge attraction and just missed out on the PDC World championship after losing to Phil Taylor in last month's final.

Eyemouth marksman Anderson, though, is ranked World No.1 by the BDO and the sparks are set to fly when they meet.

Beatlemania gripped Alloa when the Fab Four played at the Town Hall back in 1960. Now almost 50 years on, it will be Barneymania as the five times champ struts his stuff against the Scot.

Hanson said: "The area has gone crazy over the exhibition any many have already suggested they'll be dressing up in the trademark orange in honour of the Dutch world champion."

However, Anderson will give van Barneveld a stern test with home support. He said: "I'm looking forward to playing on the same stage as the Beatles did all those years ago.

"Seriously, it's for an important cause and myself and Barney will going flat out to win.

"During the year, myself and Gary Robson try to raise as much money as we can through the Men in Black team and we hope we have some success again in Alloa. I hope there will be a massive crowd."
