The one competition all the top darts players want to win is back again and the Herald, in conjunction with Trophydart, is launching the Champion of Champions tournament, which is now in its 22nd year.

Play-offs will be arranged to produce eight finalists and the draw, with venues, will appear only in Steve Chapman's weekly darts review.

All play-offs will be on Sunday evenings and the format will be the best of five legs of 501, flying start. The grand final itself will be the best of seven games and the no bust rule will apply throughout the competition.

The preliminary round will take place on Sunday, September 17 and subsequent rounds will follow on the Sunday's of October 15, November 12 and November 26.
