Darts: Mixed results for Wheatsheaf

WHEATSHEAF won one and lost one of this week's double-header.

First they pulled off a superb victory at Sambrook Vaults of Market Drayton in the Courage Pub Knockout. They went into the game 5-4 down from the first leg but Keith Allman and Taff Jackson clawed back some ground by winning their doubles.

John Murphy and Mick Morris lost theirs, but Che Kerin and Carl Edge won. In the singles, Allman and Jackson lost, but Wheatsheaf battled back to lead 9-8 with victories for Murphy, Morris and Kerin.

A defeat for Carl Edge tied it up at 9-9, meaning one player from each side had to be picked for a deciding match. Allman stepped up and won the tie in style hitting a 180 on his way to winning in 13 darts.

The team then went on to Telford to play Dun Cow, but they were unable to carry on their good form and lost 5-1, Neil Aspinall their only winner.

Kerin has been selected as reserve for this week's county game and Allman will be play for Shropshire A on Sunday.

Tickets are on sale from the Wheatsheaf for the visit of BDO pro Darryl “The Dazzler” Fitton on Thursday, March 5. They cost £4 each. There will be a draw on the night for a dartboard signed by Fitton. (article source...)
