Rotarians to launch Barnstaple darts competition

BARNSTAPLE Link Rotary Club is holding a sponsored darts marathon on February 3 next year.
The competition is open to anyone who can get a team of four players together, plus a caller and a scorer. It will take place at different venues in Barnstaple as long as there is a dart board, and prizes are being donated by Barum Brewery.

The object of the competition is to gain the highest score in one hour non-stop.

" This should prove to be a fun evening with the proceeds split 50:50 between the teams' chosen charity and the Rotary programme to eliminate polio worldwide, something that already has the backing of computer guru Bill Gates," said organiser Alan Curtis.

As well as a prize for the highest score there will also be one for the most sponsorship raised, and the Barnstaple Link Rotary Club will be welcoming teams from the darts leagues etc but also hopes that other organisations like the fire service, police, social clubs and friends can make up teams to put the competition firmly on the map.

Entry forms can be obtained from Alan who is on (01271) 816860 or via his e-mail at sacurtis@talktalk.net or any Link member.
