UXBRIDGE -- The Uxbridge Legion is hoping to hit the fundraising bullseye at an event this weekend.
The legion, located at 109 Franklin St., is hosting a 'dart-a-thon' on Sunday, Nov. 30, at noon, with competitions also at 1:30 and 3 p.m. that day. Participants will throw nine darts at each number on the board, totalling 180 darts, said Councillor Jack Ballinger, also president of the Legion.
The idea is to score the highest, hitting 'triples' as much as possible, he said.
Individuals and teams of four can enter. The team with the most pledges will win four tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs game, with prizes for the second and third best efforts as well, said Coun. Ballinger.
The goal is to raise $4,000 for the Uxbridge United Way campaign, said the councillor.
Pledge forms are available in advance at the legion, or residents can walk in with a pledge the day of for some dart fun, he said. Food will be provided by the legion, said Coun. Ballinger.
