The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of "Global Darts Forum".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the 2nd and last time this mass email will go out.
Yes after a good run I have come to the decision that it’s time to close GDF down, this has NOT been influenced by anyone or Dart body (as some may thing I have been ‘persuaded to shutdown”) but is solely my own decision based on the site going dead and the monthly cost of keeping it alive for 2-4 members to post.
The site will close down approx 1st -5th May so please join The dartboard before the GDF closes!
However all is not lost! Nick Williams (Nick is owner of “The Dartboard- darts forum”) and I have come up with a few idea’s and have put an “Aussie” section in his forum to make all GDF members at home as well Nick has ALOT of other great threads, subjects on offer so please join up post in the Aussie section then check out his great forum.
http://mistadouble.proboards.com/index.cgi
I know you will treat Nicks forum like the GDF and Nick and his moderators are always around to help, even try out the prediction leagues as you can win a prize! Fortunately or unfortunately (depends on who you are) I will be there as have been a member there before I even got GDF off the ground, Nicks forum has been going since 1999.
Charity darts match to be held in memory of Yate grandmother
DARTS players are hoping to hit the bullseye in memory of a ‘supergran’ from Yate.
The friends and family of Karen Trevorrow, who died in November after suffering a heart attack, are stepping up to the oche to raise funds for a hospital ward close to the grandmother’s heart.
Karen, 53, was fit and well but complained of feeling unwell on bonfire night last year.
She collapsed at her home in Eggshill Lane and spent five days in intensive care at Frenchay Hospital before doctors realised she had suffered a stroke as well. Her daughter Fran, who owns Look A Head hairdressing salon on The Ridge, said: "We switched off her life machine on November 10. It was a total shock and everyone who knew my mum has been shocked by her passing.
"I never thought it would be my mum. She was such an outgoing, bubbly and friendly person. She was just one of those people everyone loved."
Karen, who had lived in Yate all her life, was a housewife and helped with her daughter's business. She had been married to husband Hugh, 57, an operations manager for Hanson, for 34 years. The couple have two children, Fran, 25, and Louise, 30.
Fran said: "She was devoted to her granddaughter, my niece Cameron, three, and we do not know if mum knew that my sister was three months' pregnant when she died. One of her friends always called her supergran."
Karen would have become a grandmother for the second time a month ago, when Louise gave birth to a little boy who has yet to be named.
A darts match is being held in Karen’s honour at the Rose and Crown pub, in Rangeworthy, this Sunday, May 3 (from 5.30pm).
It is being organised by Fran and other members of the Rose and Crown ladies darts team, which Karen joined five years ago.
"She said she was just going along to make up the numbers but she really enjoyed darts, especially when we won," said Fran.
All money raised from the event will be donated to the neo-natal intensive care unit at Southmead Hospital, where Louise spent several months as a baby after Karen suffered pre-eclampsia during pregnancy.
For more information call the Rose and Crown on 01454 228233. (story source...)
Hampshire v Cheshire British Inter-County Fixture - Monday, 27 April 2009
Get in there Hampshire!!!! Not only have the mighty blues secured Premiership status, they have also picked up the Ladies A title after a superb result against Cheshire at the weekend.
With the general consensus outside the team seeming to be that Hampshire were going to get battered by Cheshire, and subsequently find themselves relegated to Division One, it was great to see the side dig in and produce a fantastic result. Credit has to go to the Ladies teams who walked away with 10 points from a possible 12, but there were also some great performances from the men.
