AN EVENING of exhibition darts was held on Anglesey with the current British Darts Organisation champion.
Mark 'Webby' Webster stepped up to the oche at Tafarn Y Rhyd in Llangoed on Tuesday, to host a mentor and exhibition evening for John Roberts, winner of the John Smith's People's Darts North Wales regional final.
Since winning the regional heat at King George's Hall in Blackburn last month, John, 52, has been preparing to contest the televised final at Lakeside in the New Year.
If he wins, he will be entered into three BDO tournaments in 2009, receive sponsorship from John Smith's and a sum of £14,000 to donate to John's chosen charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Research Trust.
John, who will wear "Cymru Am Byth O.J.R" on the back of his shirt, said: "It will be great to get tips from the current world champion and hopefully he will help me prepare for the biggest match of my life.
"It's just great to be going to the final at the Lakeside, it's the biggest stage in darts!"
Webster, who spent the evening tutoring John as well as taking on some of the locals, added: "I have given John some advice on his game, as well as mentally preparing him for the venue itself. "
