A NATIONAL amateur darts tournament is set to come to Scarborough.
The Communication Workers Friendly Society event will be held at the Grand Hotel in February for the first time in its 30-year history.
Organiser Allan Grafton said: “We are really looking forward to coming to Scarborough.
“The tournament has been going for 30 years and we have played in places such as Brighton, Blackpool, Birmingham, London and Coventry, and Scarborough seemed a very attractive option for 2009.
“The competition usually attracts more than 200 entrants and has been organised through Britannia Hotels who run the Grand and it looks like a fantastic venue.”
The tournament is open to people from Scarborough who either work for British Telecom, the Post Office Parcel Force or any of their sister companies and to those who are retired from such organisations.
Grafton added: “It would be excellent if some locals entered the competition because it won’t cost them a thing. We always have a lot of fun and there are competitors from all over the country.”
The competition runs over two days on Saturday and Sunday February 21-22, with a trophy presentation and disco taking place on the Sunday evening to round things off.
There will be individuals, men’s fours and ladies pairs tournaments, with Sky Sports commentator John Gwynne guesting as the MC.
Anyone wishing to enter the tournament or wanting further information should contact Allan on 01612-230272.
