SHELDONVILLE, MASS. (January 13, 2009)—The Patriot Dart League’s Pro Player Developmental Singles League (PDSL) will conduct its bi-annual playoff tournament on Saturday, January 17, 2009, capping off the fall 2008 season of competition. The top professional prospects of MA and CT will gather at the Moose Lodge in Braintree, Massachusetts, to battle it out in a professional long-format 501 darts tournaments to determine the fall season’s league champion.

Founded on Patriot’s Day in 2006, the PDSL was created to provide talented U.S. players the opportunity to train using the same competition formats employed by the sport’s dominating players in Europe, where darts is a popular televised sport with numerous corporate sponsorships and serious prize money for top players.

Many players competing in the PDSL league championship are nationally ranked players, including top seed, Tom Curtin, who appeared in ESPN’s recently televised World Series of Darts. The league is determined to have one or more of its players make the televised stage rounds when the top European organizers of the sport, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) conducts its U.S. Open tournament in May of this year, which is rumored to be coming to Boston, MA.
