THE Power was switched on in Batley on Thursday night as 13 times world darts champion Phil Taylor won the top prize on his first visit to the Frontier Club.
In front of a noisy, packed crowd of 1,500, the man widely recognised to be the greatest ever dart thrower warmed up for the forthcoming World Championships in impressive style by winning the Winmau Darts Dazzler title.
Taylor, who took home £3,000 for his efforts, defeated Darryl Fitton five legs to one in his quarter-final then current BDO world champion Mark Webster 6-4 in his second game before dashing the hopes of Mexborough's Dennis Priestley 7-2 in the final.
It was a top class line-up for the second Dazzler event with four former world champions in attendance as well Dazzler champion, James Wade, who is ranked no3 by the PDC. (full article...)
