For a 13-time world champion self-doubt should be a relative stranger, but Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor admitted to fearing he had “lost it” after defeat in the Professional Darts Corporation World Championship last year.
Taylor, who enjoyed near total domination between 1995 and 2006, losing just once in 2003, suffered a rare reverse in a match described as the greatest game of darts ever in the final two years ago against Raymond van Barneveld.
But it was his defeat in the quarter-finals against Wayne ‘Hawaii 501’ Mardle 12 months ago that left him questioning whether he still had what it takes to land a 14th title. (full article..)
